Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 July 2026
This policy explains what PromptScrub does and does not collect. The short version: the text you paste into the tool never reaches us, because it never leaves your browser.
The text you paste into the tool
We do not receive it, store it, log it, or process it on any server. Detection and redaction run entirely as JavaScript inside your browser. This application has no endpoint that accepts your text.
Nothing you paste is saved between visits. Closing or reloading the tab discards it. You can confirm all of this by opening your browser's developer tools, switching to the Network tab, and watching while you paste.
Information we do collect
Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure records requests for pages and files. These logs may include your IP address, browser type and version, the page requested, the referring page, and a timestamp. We use them to keep the site running, diagnose faults, and detect abuse. They contain no content from the tool.
Analytics. We do not currently load a third-party analytics service. If we introduce one, it will never capture the text you paste, and we will update this policy before enabling it.
Email you send us. If you contact us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
Cookies and advertising
The tool itself does not require cookies to function.
PromptScrub may display ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve and measure ads.
Learn more on Google's Advertising page (opens in a new tab). You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (opens in a new tab). You may also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (opens in a new tab). PromptScrub does not provide the text you paste into the tool to advertising providers.
For more detail on the cookies used here, see our Cookie Policy.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, or erase personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. Because we do not collect the content you paste, these rights in practice concern server logs and any email correspondence.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. We do not sell personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Data retention
Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then discarded. Email correspondence is kept while it remains relevant.
Third-party links
Our articles link to outside sources such as news reports and vendor documentation. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted clearly.
