What we provide

PromptScrub is a free, browser-based tool that detects and redacts patterns in text you supply. It requires no account and is offered as-is for anyone to use.

No warranty, and the limits of what this tool can do

This point is important enough to state plainly. PromptScrub uses pattern matching, which recognises formats, not meaning. It will miss sensitive information that does not match a known pattern, including names, project code names, unreleased figures, and anything confidential by context rather than by shape. It may also flag text that is not sensitive at all.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

You remain responsible for reviewing any text before you share it. Do not treat a clean result from this tool as confirmation that a piece of text is safe to send.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PromptScrub and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including any disclosure of information that the tool did not detect.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use this site to break the law, to attempt to disrupt or overload the service, to gain unauthorised access to any part of our systems, or to scrape or republish the site's content at scale without permission.

Intellectual property

The site's name, design, written content, and source code belong to their respective owners and are protected by copyright. You may link to our pages freely. You may not republish substantial portions of our articles without permission.

The text you paste into the tool is yours. We claim no rights over it, and we never receive it.

Advertising

Third-party advertising may appear on the site. We do not control advertiser content or endorse the products or services advertised.

Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without notice. We may also update these terms; continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

Any dispute arising from these terms will be handled under the laws applicable at the operator's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
